adobe buys macromedia

Holy shit. I think that's about all I can say. $3.4 billion transaction. I have to admit, I'm a little worried about what will happen to Macromedia's product line. Dreamweaver and Flash are great tools (be it, Flash is a little hard to work with, but that's expected given the breadth of the product.)

But I wonder now if DW will be dropped for GoLive -- or if GoLive will be dropped (which would be preferred), or if they'll combine the two. And I fear for Flash.

However, Adobe has good quality products -- Photoshop and Illustrator can't be beat. However, it took a lot of work to get there, and I wonder what will happen when they get their hands on Macromedia. GUIs will change, I'm sure, to match Adobe's style. I like DW's GUI.

*Sigh* Everyone channel good thoughts to Adobe. I think overall, this is a good thing tho. Just a lot has the potential to go wrong.

GoLive sucks ass. I say boycott if they drop Dreamweaver for it.
